“Kimbo Slice” would fight James Toney, wasn’t impressed with his MMA debut at UFC 118
Former UFC heavyweight, “Kimbo Slice” has revealed he would have no problem fighting James “Lights Out” Toney if the opportunity presented itself after watching the professional boxer lose to Randy Couture at UFC 118.
Speaking via MMAFighting.com, “Slice” said:
“I never heard anything about me fighting James Toney, but you know, like I said, again, I’ll fight anybody, man. C’mon, everybody knows that about me from my street-fighting days. Put anybody in front of me, train me to be the best, I’ll fight the best. That’s one thing about Kimbo Slice that everybody knows.”
“Slice” has confirmed he’s about to make the switch to the world of boxing and the former “Ultimate Fighter” reality star admits he was surprised at how poorly Toney performed in the octagon against Randy Couture.
“Yeah, kinda. I was [surprised]. I would have sprawled out.”
Toney has since been cut from the UFC roster and threw a verbal shot at “Kimbo”, the man he calls “Simba”, by saying he would gladly welcome him into boxing.
“No, it don’t bother me, man. That [expletive] don’t bother me. I’m a grown man. That’s how they do it. That’s part of the game. They can talk [expletive] all they want to, but when we face-to-face, they ain’t going to do that. I’m not a [expletive] talker. Never have been, never will be.”
“Kimbo”, who amassed an MMA record of 4-2, hopes to make his boxing debut later this year although an opponent has yet to be confirmed. How successful the thirty-six-year-old will be inside the ring will be up for discussion, for and against.
