UFC 117 – Rick Story expects Dustin Hazelett to be more dangerous than ever in Oakland, California
UFC welterweight, Rick Story has been speaking about his upcoming fight with submission wizard, Dustin Hazelett at UFC 117 in just over one weeks time in Oakland, California, explaining he’s expecting “McLovin’” to be more dangerous than ever following a long layoff through injury.
Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Story said:
“He’s fighting to stay in, pretty much.”
Story then spoke about how he’s preparing for this dangerous encounter, explaining he’s been training hard to finish fights, not leave them in the hands of the judges.
“I’ve had the opportunity to ask the questions that I need to sharpen up my game. I always want to finish fights. I’m just going to be spinning my wheels if I keep getting decisions. I don’t want to get picked as the guy who lays and prays, and just goes out and hugs guys.”
“He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that plays it safe. He goes for crazy stuff. I fully believe that he’s going to be there to fight. He’s going to try and make a demonstration and prove that he belongs in the UFC.”
“If it’s a split decision, it will bump me up a little bit. If I knock him out, it will put me up a lot further. If it’s a fight that looks like it could go either way, it probably won’t move me up. I’m just happy to fight. If I’m fighting someone who’s bringing the heat, I want to fire back.”
Story is on a three fight winning streak inside the octagon, defeating Brian Foster, Jesse Lennox and Nick Osipczak to leap up the welterweight ranks. Can he defeat Hazelett and make another statement of intent towards the 170 pound title? Tell us what you think…
