Jon Jones hits out at James Toney: “I don’t really have a hard time calling him ignorant”
UFC light heavyweight star on the rise, Jon Jones has been speaking about James Toney and the comments the boxer has directed the way of legendary octagon warrior, Randy Couture, describing the man dubbed “Light’s Out” as “ignorant”.
Speaking via TapouT Radio, Jones said:
“Do you really think you’re going to uppercut a collegiate wrestler when he’s coming full force into a double leg dive? I think he [James Toney] is just really naive to think that with hand combinations alone he’s going to be able to defend takedowns from the clinch and double leg dives. So I think he’s just ignorant in a way and I don’t really have a hard time calling him ignorant because of some of the statements he’s made about our sport.”
Jones is in action himself this coming weekend when he takes on light heavyweight veteran, Vladimir Matyushenko in the main event of the UFC on Versus 2 show this Sunday. The event will be the first of three put on by the promotion this month, the last of which will feature Couture’s battle with Toney.
