UFC 116 – Brock Lesnar pulls off astonishing comeback win against Shane Carwin in Las Vegas
UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar pulled off the most astonishing win of his career to date, coming back from a disastrous first round against Shane Carwin to submit the fellow man mountain in the second round via arm triangle choke submission at UFC 116 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Both came out cautious knowing one punch could end it. Lesnar jabs in but is caught by a heavy hand by Carwin. Lesnar shoots in looking for the takedown and he manages to momentarily drag Carwin to the ground. The two men return to their feet but Carwin catches Lesnar again, forcing him to retreat to the fence. Carwin pours it on, landing another heavy punch which drops Lesnar to the canvas. Carwin continues to tee off on the champion, hammering him with punch after punch as the referee takes a closer look. Carwin gains the mount as all Lesnar can do is cover up. Carwin continues to rain down punches but Lesnar manages to get a little separation. The champ gets back to his knees and eventually manages to get back to his feet. Lesnar pushes Carwin up against the fence and lands a couple of knees, looking for a breather.
Very tentative opening in the second although Carwin again lands a hard punch. Lesnar shoots in and takes Carwin to the ground. Lesnar stays patient and moves to the mount position before spinning off with an arm triangle choke. Carwin seems fine before Lesnar decides to tighten it up and cut off any oxygen the challenger might have. Finally Carwin has no choice but to submit, tapping out to the champion.
