Gegard Mousasi reveals he plans to renegotiate Strikeforce contract after April 17th fight

Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Gegard Mousasi has revealed he plans to renegotiate his contract with the promotion following his April 17th fight with “King Mo” Lawal in Nashville, Tennessee, explaining he has just one fight left on his current deal.

Speaking to MMAJunkie.com, Mousasi said:

“I have one more fight left on my contract, but we are planning to sign a new deal. I’m being treated very well. I feel like I’m a part of the family, so there’s no reason for me to go anywhere else. I fight also in DREAM, so I don’t have any desires to go anywhere.”

“I like to keep busy. I’m in very good shape. I don’t know why (I should) stop for two months and go back training to be in good shape. If I’m in good shape, I’m going to be in good shape the whole year. For next year, I want to take it easy; (fighting) three times a year is good.”

Sources close to the fighter have indicated that a seven fight deal has been drawn up by the promotion, hoping to secure the future of one of the brightest fighters in MMA today and put an end to rumours that he might sign for rivals, the UFC.
