Frank Mir: “Nobody can keep me from beating up Brock Lesnar and taking my belt back”
Former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir has spoken about the preparations for his upcoming fight with Shane Carwin at UFC 111 next weekend in Newark, New Jersey, saying nobody will keep him from his ultimate goal of beating up Brock Lesnar.
Speaking via GracieMag.com, Mir said:
“I’m weighing 265 pounds and am much, much quicker, training really hard and lifting really heavy. My boxing is getting better and better and I’m training a lot of Jiu-Jitsu, nearly every day with Robert Drysdale, with and without the gi.”
“Even though I beat Lesnar once, my loss to him last time is hard to swallow. This is what happens: I have to beat Shane Carwin so I can fight Brock Lesnar and nothing, nobody can keep me from beating up Brock Lesnar and taking my belt back. Anyone who follows this sport knows what I’m talking about.”
Mir and Lesnar have met twice before inside the octagon, with Lesnar getting the better of 90% of both contests. The man from Las Vegas has since bulked up, adding 20 pounds to his frame and using a strength and conditioning coach for the first time in an attempt to redress the balance.
