Fedor Emelianenko to take on Hidehiko Yoshida in April 25th retirement fight in ASTRA

It has emerged that WAMMA heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko will take on Japanese MMA legend, Hidehiko Yoshida in his retirement fight on April 25th in ASTRA.

According to an article in today’s Nikkan Sports, the Russians camp has been deep in negotiations with Yoshida ever since he announced he was set to retire from the sport. A further meeting is planned to finalise the details of a deal at DREAM 13 this coming Monday.

The move is set to frustrate MMA fans across the world who have been calling for the man considered by many to be the best heavyweight in the world to face top class opposition. A proposed fight with Fabricio Werdum seems to be in no-man’s land after contract wrangling between Strikeforce and his management team at M-1 Global.
