MMABay fighter blog with Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal for March 2010

Strikeforce light heavyweight number one contender, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal returns to blog for MMABay this month, speaking about his potentially career defining fight with 205 pound champion, Gegard Mousasi next month in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I’ve just been training and relaxing since we last spoke, spending a lot of time at the gym, lifting weights. I’m around 230 pounds at the minute so I’m just working on my strength, size, speed as well as training all my skills. My fight with Mousasi has FINALLY been announced. I think they were always gonna do it but at last they said “King Mo” vs. Mousasi, that’s the fight we wanna see. I always knew this fight was gonna happen, I knew last year that it was gonna happen. Strikeforce were just waiting for the right opportunity to put the fight together and make it happen.

Mousasi keeps talking a lot, saying things to make him feel confident. He’s never been outspoken before but now all of a sudden he’s saying this and that. We all know Mousasi ain’t like that, he’s just trying to find a way to hype himself up. I’m happy for him to carry on cos it’s only going to build the fight up more but what he keeps saying is lame and he sounds like Kermit the Frog when he talks. I think now that he’s speaking it’s better for the both of us. No one wants to see two guys that don’t talk and aren’t interested in fighting each other. Even Anderson Silva does a little bit of trash talking, it’s good. I’m not disrespecting him in anyway, I’m not saying he’s any less of an opponent or he’s a bad man. I’m just saying I think I’m gonna beat him. I saw this guy came out last week saying I shouldn’t make him angry. The guy isn’t even his manager no more so what he has to say is irrelevant cos he got rid of him.

I definitely think people are overestimating him against me, saying he has world class stand-up. If he has world class stand-up what world tournaments has he competed in? None! He has great Jiu-Jitsu off his back, so who has he submitted? I think I’ve got everything over him, athleticism, strength, size, reflexes, my wrestling ability and power. If he wants to stand with me I’ll stand with him. What’s he gonna do, knock me out? I’m yet to see him knockout anybody with one punch. I have! I haven’t even seen him wobble anybody with one punch. I have and bigger men! What’s he gonna do, take me down and throw me? That’s laughable! We saw his level of skills against Sokoudjou. People are say, ‘He’s trained with Fedor so he must be good’, but guess what people, he’s only trained with Fedor two or three times if that. It also means just because he’s trained with Fedor doesn’t make him Fedor. I train with Fabricio Werdum but it doesn’t mean I’m gonna submit everybody. These reporters who say he’s just gonna run through me and knock me out know nothing about me. They are just fans believing the hype. They know nothing about my background.

I’m gonna shock the world, shut the internet down, I think people might commit suicide. I know some people are gonna be on suicide watch. I just feel bad for all those people who are underestimating me cos I know they’re gonna be hurting come April 17th. They’re gonna be hurting real bad.
